What does it mean when a cat’s eye is cloudy?
Cloudy eyes can be a serious symptom of cat eye diseaseparticularly when the clouding is on the cornea (the outer surface of the eye). When the cornea gets injured, such as from a scratch or ulcer, swelling occurs, and you will see a cloudy patch in your cat’s eye. In some cases, the entire cornea may appear cloudy.
Can a cats cloudy eye heal on its own?
The good news is that as long as you act quickly, the better the chance is that your cat will make a full recovery. Issues like conjunctivitis or corneal ulcers may be treated with antibiotics since they are often caused or at least followed by an infection.
How do you treat cloudy eyes?
The only treatment for a cataract-clouded lens is surgery to remove the lens and replace it with an artificial lens. If left untreated, the cataract will continue to progress, eventually leading to blindness in the eye.
