Do cicadas eat?
Cicadas have modified mouthparts to feed on liquids rather than solid material. Larvae suck juices from plant roots, while adults suck fluids from woody shrubs and trees. Periodical cicadas are best known for their extraordinary, highly synchronized life cycles.

Technically cicadas don’t bite or sting; they do however pierce and suck. They might try to pierce and suck you, but don’t worry, they aren’t Vampires nor are they malicious or angry they’re just ignorant and think you’re a tree.
Do cicadas have private parts?
Viewed from beneath, female cicadas have a distinct point at the tip of their abdomen. By contrast, the female cicada has oval shaped genitalia with a distinct point at the terminus. Within the female’s external genitalia is a hollow saber-like structure called an ovipositor.
